With an onion-skin rim, it has a burnished gold hue. Coalsmoke, vanilla sponge, and gentle orchard fruits dominate the aroma of this classic modern Benromach. The aromas are sharper, with greater crispness of definition, than the 10 year old, but it is less rounded. It's finished off with a hint of dark cherry and strawberry lace. The the mouthfeel isn't as full-bodied as you might imagine, but the flavours are well-defined. Coal, driftwood, and vanilla combine to make a hearty highland blend. Nutmeg and cocoa are used to spice this whisky. There's a hint of cherry, but it's not as fruity or sticky as the 10 year old.
